Cristian, 7 years old, is about to see his dream come true, which is more or less a dream shared by all children his age. To visit Disneyland Paris, home to all these amazing attractions and the characters that have always been present in his imagination, together with his parents. Cristian is a special boy, tenacious, a great fighter. Every day he faces his personal fight to live. Cristian suffers from a rare form of congenital myopathy, whose origin is unknown, an illness that keeps him from doing many things, including moving and eating, and sometimes even breathing. He can't go to school with influenza and other viruses around.
He lives on a wheelchair that he calls Mitsubishi and is the perfect companion for him, besides his parents, his grandmother, and their dog Lulu. Another great friend of his is Goofy, that friendly and somewhat clumsy character at the head of all the Disney characters.
Cristian is a determined young boy from the village of Brusson in the Val d'Aosta region of northwestern Italy. And he's preparing to go to Paris, the capital of his dreams, thanks to the Non-profit Organization Make a Wish Italy, founded in Genova in 2004 by Fabio and Sune Frontani, which is now active all over Italy, with the goal of gathering funds to make the “impossible” dreams of children suffering from serious illnesses come true. Thanks to the VDA Trailers, who sold 20 racing number kits for the Tor des Geants® 2016 race with the proceeds going specifically to Make a Wish. And most of all, thanks to those generous runners who until now have purchased these racing numbers (17 out of 20, therefore there are still 3 available), truly allowing dreams to come true.
Runners and children facing difficulties, although in different contexts, have much in common: tenacity, will power, the determination to face obstacles, the will to succeed, and hope. Therefore, the Vda Trailers' decision to donate to Make a Wish was a perfect choice.
Cristian is only the first of the youngsters to benefit from the funds raised. Naturally, others will soon follow him. We are very pleased that Make a Wish's first choice was Cristian, a child from Val d'Aosta, namely the region where the Tor des Geants® race takes place, where those who satisfied the desire of the young warrior from Brusson and other children like him will be running to live their own dreams.
